Course Description

This course is aimed specifically at experienced SQL Server administrators who need to prepare for the SQL Server 2008 MCTS 70-432 exam. The course will run at a very fast pace to cover all the core skills measured by the exam. The objective is to help:
  • those already experienced with working in the SQL Server 2000 or SQL Server 2005 environment for a year or two to migrate their skills to SQL Server 2008 for the purpose of attaining certification
  • or to help those who have been working with SQL Server 2008 already and have previous experience of SQL Server 2000 or SQL Server 2005 environment to fill in the gaps in readiness for taking the exams.

Course pre-requisites:

Administering a SQL Server 2008 database system requires a sound understanding of database design, database implementation and in-depth familiarity with the SQL and Transact-SQL languages as well as a sound understanding of how to manage and maintain it. As such the 70-432 exam, although based on administration and support of the system, assumes this pre-requisite knowledge from the design and implementation skill set. This accelerated 5 day course does not cover the pre-requisite topics and so it is vital that delegates attending meet the pre-requisites listed below.
Delegates attending this course should have the following pre-requisites:

    This course is not suitable for people who are new to or have limited experience with SQL Server. There are other courses aimed at moving towards certification at a more leisurely pace.
  • A good understanding of relational databases
  • A competent level of SQL Server SQL experience, at least to the level of the PTR SQL for SQL Server course
  • A good level of experience with the Transact SQL language
  • One to two years of experience administering SQL Server 2000 upwards database servers
