The SQL language is the foundation of all database tasks and job roles and is the fundamental way of creating and retrieving database content

This is the first of a series of SQL courses and focuses on the foundation topics you will need to get started with querying a SQL Server Database.

This introductory SQL training course is offered in a face to face classroom or virtual setting and can be tailored to your needs.

You will learn to:

  • Understand the key components of relational databases - tables, columns, relationships, keys
  • Write SQL queries with the SELECT Statement
  • Restrict record sets with filters
  • Combine table data with joins
  • Work with common SQL functions to transform stored data and derive new business values
  • Group and summarise data to derive aggregate values such as sub totals, record counts and averages

This course is relevant to: SQL Server 2012, SQL Server 2014, SQL Server 2016, SQL Server 2017, SQL Server 2019, Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Data Warehouse, Azure Synapse.

Should you be interested in SQL Server certification:

The Microsoft certification program has now moved away from MCSA and MCSE to fundamental and role-based certifications. The SQL based MCSA and MCSE exams and certifications are being retired at the end of January 2021. Although there are now no exams focusing solely on SQL or SQL Server the SQL language remains a core pre-requisite requirement for both your data job role and the new Microsoft certifications.
