Overview
Microsoft Purview Training: Make Your Data Ready for AI
AI is only as trustworthy as the data behind it. This 3-day, hands-on course shows you how to use Microsoft Purview to govern and protect your data across Microsoft Fabric, Azure and Microsoft 365, so that it is discoverable, understood, trustworthy and secure: ready for reporting, analytics and AI.
Designed for data and analytics teams, data stewards, and security and compliance professionals, the course brings both halves of Purview together: data governance on one side, and security and compliance on the other. Through practical labs in Fabric and Azure, you’ll learn how the two work side by side to give your organisation confidence in the data that feeds Copilot, AI agents and your wider analytics estate.
Develop Purview Skills:
What “AI-ready” data really means, and how Purview and Fabric work together to get you there.
How to scan and map your data estate across Fabric, Azure and other sources, with automatic classification of sensitive data.
How to use lineage and impact analysis to understand where your data comes from and what depends on it.
How to give data real business meaning using governance domains, data products, a business glossary and critical data elements.
How to profile data, set quality rules, and monitor scores, alerts and observability for continuous readiness.
How to design least-privilege access, manage data product access requests, and align Purview and Fabric permissions.
How to protect sensitive data with sensitivity labels, auto-labelling, protection policies in Fabric and data loss prevention.
How to use Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) to monitor how Copilot and AI agents use your data, and to stop sensitive data reaching public AI tools.
How to manage audit, insider risk, retention and compliance, including AI activity, with Compliance Manager support for GDPR, the EU AI Act and more.
Govern and Protect Your Data Your Way, Training Tailored to Your Needs
This Microsoft Purview training is available in a UK-based face-to-face classroom or a virtual setting, and can be tailored to your needs. Working with a particular mix of Fabric, Azure and Microsoft 365 workloads, or focused on a specific challenge such as Copilot readiness or EU AI Act compliance? Let us know and we can shape the training to make sure you leave with exactly what you need.
Solve Your Data Governance and AI Readiness Challenges
Whether you work in data, security or compliance, those who join us are usually facing the same questions:
How do we know what data we have, where it lives and who is using it?
How do we make sure Copilot and AI agents only see the data they should?
Can we trust the quality and meaning of the data we’re feeding into AI and analytics?
How do we stop sensitive information leaking into public AI tools?
How do we evidence compliance with GDPR and the EU AI Act?
If this sounds familiar, this is the course for you. We’ll walk you through practical, repeatable ways to answer these questions using Purview, so your teams can adopt AI with confidence rather than caution.
Prerequisites
There are no formal technical prerequisites for this course, and no prior experience with Microsoft Purview is needed.
To get the most from the three days, we recommend:
A general understanding of data concepts, such as databases, tables, reports and data sources.
Some familiarity with the Microsoft cloud, such as Microsoft 365, Azure or Microsoft Fabric. This is helpful rather than essential.
A basic awareness of data security and compliance ideas, such as access control, data privacy and GDPR, is useful, particularly for security and compliance delegates.
Delegates come from a mix of data, governance, security and compliance backgrounds, and the course is paced so that everyone can follow, whatever their starting point. Hands-on labs are run in a prepared Fabric and Azure environment, so there is nothing to install or set up beforehand.
