Overview

Microsoft Fabric Performance Training, Hands-on Learning

This one-day workshop gives data and BI teams a practical way to find and fix performance problems in Microsoft Fabric. You will learn how capacity is consumed and throttled, how to identify the workloads driving cost, and which tuning techniques have the biggest impact across data storage, Dataflows, pipelines and Power BI semantic models.

The day starts with diagnosis, so you know where to look before changing anything. It finishes with a reusable performance checklist and an open clinic on your own scenarios.

Develop Fabric Performance Skills:

  • How capacity units are consumed, smoothed and throttled, and how to protect your capacity.

  • How to use the Capacity Metrics app, Monitoring hub and workspace monitoring to find the workloads driving cost.

  • How to design OneLake storage, and keep Delta tables healthy with OPTIMIZE, VACUUM and V-Order.

  • How to tune Dataflows Gen2, pipelines, Spark notebooks and T-SQL.

  • How to choose between Import and Direct Lake, and prevent DirectQuery fallback.

  • How to diagnose slow DAX using Performance Analyzer, DAX Studio and Best Practice Analyzer.

  • A repeatable performance review checklist you can take back to your team.

Solve Your Performance Struggles with Expert Fabric Training

Whether BI developer, data engineer or platform owner, people who come to PTR for this training are usually dealing with the same problems:

  • Why is my capacity being throttled, and which workloads are responsible?

  • How do I reduce my Fabric costs without hurting the business?

  • Why are my refreshes, pipelines or notebooks so slow?

  • Why is my Direct Lake model falling back to DirectQuery?

  • How do I find out why a report is slow to load?

If this sounds familiar, this is the course for you. We will give you a clear method for diagnosing problems and the techniques to fix them.

Prerequisites

Delegates should have working experience of Microsoft Fabric and Power BI, such as building lakehouses, warehouses, pipelines, Dataflows or semantic models, and a basic understanding of SQL. Experience of Spark notebooks and DAX is helpful but not essential. No prior performance tuning experience is required.
